We are saddened this morning to learn of the passing of legendary Go-Go musician Lloyd Pinchback. Lloyd had currently been playing saxophone and flute for the band Proper Utensils over the past few years. However, not only is he an original member of the Go-Go band that officially created the Go-Go music sound Chuck Brown & The Soul Searchers, but he was one of the very first members of the group when they were originally known as just the Soul Searchers, releasing such 70s classic hits as “Blow Your Whistle” and “We The People.”
In a book written by Pinchback entitled, “The Soul Searcher”, he recounts several moments in that band’s history, such as how he and Chuck Brown, both members of the band Los Latinos, sat in a car one night as Chuck revealed to him how he was planning to leave the Los Latinos and start his own band called The Soul Searchers. That was the moment when Chuck also asked him to leave, as well, and join his new band. This was a pivotal moment that took place about 50 years ago.
Today, our sincere prayers and condolences go up, out and with the family and friends of Lloyd Pinchback.
