The problem that I have with the comments Geraldo Rivera made regarding the ruthless vicious shooting by George Zimmerman of Trayvon Martin is that, yes it’s true that people (especially black people) get pre-determined by the way we are dressed. However, is it a cause to stalk someone, first by car then by foot, and then shoot them? Hell no!
But let’s be honest, if you were walking to your car at night and saw a guy wearing a hoodie approaching your way, you would most likely proceed with caution.
But this was not the case in this situation. Geraldo is totally wrong and out of order (not to mention a whack-o) for stating that wearing a hoodie was the cause of Zimmerman shooting him. Based on the story I’ve gathered, Zimmerman called 911 to report a suspicious person, and the dispatcher on the phone told him NOT to approach the guy. But Zimmerman wanted to play Mr. Neighborhood (Charles Bronson) Vigilante, got out of the car anyway and approached him. The hoodie wasn’t the cause of the shooting, Zimmerman was. Zimmerman stalked him, not the other way around. Zimmerman hunted him down, not the other way around. Zimmerman approached him, not the other way around.
