FORT WASHINGTON, Md. – On any given day, you would see children of all ages walking to and from Friendly High School. But some parents FOX 5 spoke with say they won’t be anymore.
“I know that my son, my nephew, they are afraid,” said one parent who did not want to be identified.
On Monday, police say three students walking to school were robbed at gunpoint by four suspects in a late 1990s gray Toyota Camry.
Some parents say their kids had just seen the suspects moments before the robbery.
“It was a car that was following behind them and they kept on walking. The car soon came to a stop and one guy got out, dressed in all black and stretched and they kept on proceeding onto school,” said another parent.
The next group of teens the suspects saw was not so lucky. Investigators say a 13-year-old and two 17-year-olds were at the intersection of Old Allentown Road and Airport Drive. Two of the four suspects in the Camry jumped out. One had what witnesses say was an assault rifle. The other suspect had a handgun.
They took the students cell phone, iPhone and necklace, then jumped back in the car and left.
None of the students who were robbed were hurt.
