Rest In Paradise, McKinley “Bug” Williams (of Maze)

We remember Vocalist/Percussionist McKinley “Bug” Williams, an original member of Maze featuring Frankie Beverly. A man from the band that kept DC in the groove for over 30 years.  Not to mention my personal Number #1 Favorite Band of All Time.

Williams passed away September 3, 2011 due to a heart attack. He was with Frankie Beverly as the group went through several transitions, including their days as “Raw Soul” and the group’s mentoring by the late Marvin Gaye. It was Gaye who suggested a final name change. Once becoming Maze and releasing their self-titled debut in 1977, the group made history.
