Riders have one more day before Metro fares go up.
Fares were supposed to go up on Sunday, but Metro says it is delaying the changes until Tuesday. The delay will give Metro time to post signs on fare machines telling customers that the posted fares apply to riders paying with plastic SmarTrip cards. Riders who use paper cards will pay 25 cents more.
The fare changes also include co-called “peak-of-the-peak” charges. Customers traveling at times of high ridership will pay 20 cents more. On Monday, however, rail fares are remaining at Saturday prices.
