Partnership invites District filmmakers to submit films for consideration; Competition will raise profile of films from “the Documentary Capital of the Universe”
DC Office of Motion Picture and Television Development Director, Crystal Palmer, and SnagFilms CEO, Rick Allen, announced today that the inaugural “Washington’s Best Film” Competition is now accepting submissions from District filmmakers.
Judges will select one documentary and one narrative film as the grand prize winners of the competition. The top films will be distributed via SnagFilms’ global online streaming network, and will be considered for SnagFilms’ transactional video-on-demand channels.
“We have an incredibly talented pool of filmmakers in the District that deserve to be recognized both locally and nationwide,” said Office of Motion Picture and Television Development Director, Crystal Palmer. “The District is excited to partner with SnagFilms on this inaugural film competition and provide recognition to some of the city’s brightest talent.”
In March, the DC Office of Motion Picture and Television Development and Washington, DC-based SnagFilms announced its partnership and invited District filmmakers to participate in “Washington’s Best Film” Competition, in order to elevate the national and international profile of the city’s talented filmmakers.
“SnagFilms is honored to be a part of the inaugural ‘Washington’s Best Film’ Competition and is looking forward to the opportunity to work with the Office of Motion Picture and Television Development to promote the District’s gifted filmmakers,” said SnagFilms CEO, Rick Allen. “We look forward to making the city’s best storytelling available to the broadest global audience through SnagFilms online platform.”
