“Fantasia’s life has been an open book. But at 24 years old, her story has just begun,” said Executive Producer, Randy Barbato. “We look forward to smashing expectations and revealing the fresh, funny and unexpected side of this one-of-a-kind country girl/superstar.”

The series is executive produced by Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato and Tom Campbell for World of Wonder. Executive producers for VH1 are Jill Holmes, Kristen Kelly and Jeff Olde.

Alicia Keys Speaks on Rumors in Uptown Magazine

This past year has been bit of a whirlwind for Alicia Keys.

She has collaborated with Jay-Z on the chart-topping single “Empire State of Mind”–including an electrifying pre-game World Series performance–and is currently enjoying her own hit record with “Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart” from her upcoming fourth studio album, The Element of Freedom.

In the forthcoming December ‘09/January ‘10 issue of Uptown, Keys discusses her professional and personal aspirations–from marriage, acting, music and gossip.

Keys addresses the rumors concerning her alleged affair with producer Swizz Beats, formerly married to singer Mashonda. “I felt I had to speak out about things and clear my name,” she says. “But as time went on I realized it was a waste of energy. I think it’s better to just keep things moving. People will take [your business] and run with it in whichever direction they choose.”

Rumors aside, Keys is focusing on the positives in her life, such her charity work with the Keep a Child Alive foundation, and her new company AK Worldwide.

Her album, The Element of Freedom, will drop on December 15. –Caroline Acosta

ABC Buckles on Chris Brown Performance

Apparently ABC has buckled under pressure from Adam Lambert’s fans who were upset and made noise regarding his GMA performance that was canceled after his AMA debacle.

“ABC’s ‘Good Morning America‘ has written off another controversial music performance as the network pulled the plug on Chris Brown, who was set to sing on the program next week, according to the New York Post.

Brown hasn’t been able to shake the negative energy he’s been getting since he assaulted his ex-girlfriend Rhianna. Instead of promoting his music, Brown agreed to speak with host Robin Roberts during a prime-time segment on ‘20/20‘ set to air Dec. 11 — he reportedly taped the interview over the weekend.

And this interview promises to feature Brown coming clean about the incident, unlike his pussyfooting around the issue during recent appearances on ‘Larry King Live‘ and ‘The Wendy Williams Show.’

Despite original plans of releasing Michael Jackson’s critically acclaimed docu-film, ‘This Is It’ to DVD this holiday season. Sony Pictures has officially announced that the motion picture wont be available until Jan. 26.

Twitter Sends ‘Pulp Fiction’ Writer Back to Prison

If you’re supposed to be in prison, you probably shouldn’t Tweet about it. Prisoners in full-time custody aren’t supposed to have internet access or cell phones, so tweeting daily about your “prison” experiences is a dead giveaway that you’re not where you’re supposed to be.

Pulp Fiction screenwriter Roger Avary is in the middle of a prison sentence for vehicular manslaughter, following a fatal DUI car crash he caused in January. He fucked the sun when he provided the followers of his @avary Twitter account with daily updates of his prison experiences.

Avary Tweets about his Prison Experiences

Tweets like the one above led  author Neil Gaiman, one of Avary’s followers, to comment “My friend @AVARY is tweeting from the inside. It’s riveting, horrible strange. Jail in 140 character lumps.”

Gaiman wasn’t the only person who found the tweets interesting. The Ventura County penal system was also enthralled, mostly because Avary was supposed to be in full-time custody and should not have had access to anything that would have allowed him to Tweet.

According to the L.A. Times, Avary mistakenly ended upon a work furlough program that allowed him to leave custody every day from 8am-5pm to work a job, only returning to jail at night to bunk up with his fellow furlough inmates. Avary’s daily Twiiter updates caught the attention of Times writer Mark Milian, who wrote an article about Avary’s mysterious internet access. That article in turn caught the attention of the authorities.

The account has since been locked, and Avary has been transferred to a full-time “pound-me-in-the-ass” facility, but if he had refrained from daily forays into 140-character solipsism, he might not have ever been discovered.

Tiger Woods Releases Statement

tiger_woods

After canceling an interview with the Florida Highway Patrol that was scheduled for today, Woods released a statement on his website, Tigerwoods.com, that didn’t do anything to clear up the sketchy circumstances surrounding his mysterious car crash early Friday morning, but basically told everyone to butt the hell out of his biznass.

As you all know, I had a single-car accident earlier this week, and sustained some injuries. I have some cuts, bruising and right now I’m pretty sore.

This situation is my fault, and it’s obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I’m human and I’m not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn’t happen again.

This is a private matter and I want to keep it that way. Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumors that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible.

The only person responsible for the accident is me. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false.

This incident has been stressful and very difficult for Elin, our family and me. I appreciate all the concern and well wishes that we have received. But, I would also ask for some understanding that my family and I deserve some privacy no matter how intrusive some people can be.

By the way … one of the things the Highway Patrol wants to see is the marks on Tiger’s face, and whether they are consistent with scratch marks or impact on a car. As reported, there was no blood on the steering wheel, making the accident scenario suspicious. But if the marks indicate a human touch and they last for a few days, we’re guessing Tiger will not show up at his golf tourney on Thursday.

If Tiger and his wife acknowledge she scratched him up, she could be arrested for domestic abuse.

Uninvited Couple Crashed Obama’s 1st State Dinner

How embarrassing for White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers and her incompetent staff:

It seems that an uninvited couple showed up at a White House checkpoint for Barack Obama’s 1st state dinner on Nov. 24, and simply walked in like they owned the place.

Michaele Salahi — who is a cast member on the 1st season of ‘Real Housewives of DC’ - and her husband, millionaire Tareq Salahi, attended the prestigious White House dinner without an invite and later posted pictures of their escapade on Facebook.

The Salahis posted pics of themselves posing with WH chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, Vice President Joe Biden and marines on the White House lawn.

Bravo cameras followed the couple throughout the day on Tuesday as they prepared for the party, but the cameras were not on White House grounds that night, according to a Bravo spokesman.

At first the White House lied and said the couple never got close to the president. It took 3 days for a picture of the couple schmoozing with Barack Obama at the dinner to surface online.

When the AP asked WH social secretary Desiree Rogers whether she or anyone from her office were at the checkpoint to receive the guests, she answered curtly, “We were not.”

isn’t that her job to make sure someone is at the checkpoint to see that her invited guests get in OK and to keep uninvited guests out? Maybe if Desiree tended to her job a little better instead of worrying about being on the social scene, this kind of scandal could have been avoided.

Now everyone’s pointing fingers and the Secret Service is scrambling to explain how this couple got through their supposedly strict security procedures. A spokesman for the SS acknowledged that protocol was not followed that night.

Ronald Kessler, author of a book on the Secret Service, said in an interview:

“While the couple did pass through a magnetometer to detect weapons, they could have assassinated the president or vice president using other means — anthrax, for example. The additional security checks referred to by the Secret Service spokesman screen for such items as radiological contamination but would not detect secreted biological weapons.”

And let’s not forget that somewhere within the hallowed halls of the White, the Obamas children were sleeping soundly. Their lives could have been endangered by this unprecedented lapse in security.

Tiger Woods Was Running From His Wife, Which Caused The Accident?

So yesterday, I’m sure that many of you heard reports of golfer, Tiger Woods, getting in a car accident that landed him in the hospital. However, according to TMZ, it wasn’t that car accident that got Woods the reported lacerations on his face. It was his wife going upside his head. Apparently, his wife had confronted him about reports that he was seeing another woman. The argument got heated and she scratched his face up. Woods then made a hasty retreat for his SUV with his wife following behind with a golf club. As Tiger drove away, she struck the vehicle several times with the club, which caused him to run into a fire hydrant and a tree during the escape.

Al Roker – The Murder Mystery Man

Today” show personality Al Roker, already a successful author, has written a new mystery thriller set in his own world of network breakfast television.

Due Tuesday, the 320-page crime novel, titled “The Morning Show Murders,” draws on Roker’s own experiences, those of people he knows and his love of cooking, reports Reuters.

Its central character Billy Blessing owns a Manhattan restaurant and also cooks on air for fictional show “Wake Up America.” Unfortunately amidst his success, he finds his producer murdered and himself as the prime suspect.

Roker, 55, admits that Billy Blessing draws on parts of his own life.

“He’s black, bald and chubby with a little bit of a sense of humor,” Roker said of Blessing.

The book was written in collaboration with Dick Lochte, an established crime fiction writer. Roker praised Lochte, 65, as indispensable and said he gave him an outline and made himself available for discussions during the nine months it took to write the book.

“I know TV and I know cooking,” said Roker, who has authored two cook books. “I knew who I wanted the bad guys to be. The international intrigue, he knows that.”

Roker said he wrote his own novel waiting at airports and on planes, even during brief downtime when covering the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

Anthony Hamilton and Terry Crews Reminisce Over Sout Train

From EURWeb:

In the eyes of many, “Soul Train” is an institution. From a who’s who of singers performing on stage to the scramble board to dancers showing off their best moves while dancing down the show’s infamous line to host Don Cornelius’ weekly farewell of “love, peace and soul,” the TV show immediately generates flashbacks for viewers.

For Terry Crews, “Soul Train” served as his introduction to dance, a fact he proudly boasts about without shame.

“First of all, “Soul Train” means so much to everybody. People think I’m an actor. I’m a dancer first. This is where you learned to dance,” said Crews, who revealed how far back his relationship with the show went. “This where you get your first move….I was four-years-old when I could see it and all of a sudden, you realize that you can dance over the years because you’ve been watching “Soul Train.

Crews was among a host of celebrities on hand for Centric Presents: 2009 Soul Train Awards. This year’s show, hosted by Academy Award nominees Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, marks its’ official return after a one-year absence.

The 2008 Soul Train Awards was cancelled due to the 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America strike as well as health problems for Cornelius at the time. The show also suffered another set back when “Soul Train” distributor Tribune Entertainment terminated operations amid the sale of Tribune Company to Sam Zell. The 2009 Soul Train Awards came about after the rights to “Soul Train” were acquired by MadVision Entertainment.

This year’s Soul Train Awards honorees include Chaka Khan and Charlie Wilson, who will be recognized for their long and influential music careers and Michael Jackson, who will posthumously receive the Entertainer of the Year award. In addition to honoring the best in black music and entertainment, the Soul Train Awards will feature performances from an all-star roster of entertainers.

Among those taking the stage will be Keri Hilson, Robin Thicke, Erykah Badu, Ryan Leslie, Raheem DeVaughn featuring Ludacris, Fantasia, Mario featuring Sean Garrett and Chrisette Michele.

Michele will also be recognized during the two-hour show by fellow R&B vocalists Anthony Hamilton and Musiq Soulchild. Hamilton expressed his joy at returning to music as he and his wife, Tarshá McMillian Hamilton, begin work on their respective new albums.

As for “Soul Train’s impact on him, the crooner was pleased with being among the artists who have been affected by the long-running show. As a result, Hamilton has no problem with being a catalyst for helping the new generation of artists carrying on the show’s tradition.

“It’s always great when we grow and we pass, you know, the torch, the baton on,” said the singer, who confessed to getting ready to work with Lyfe Jennings on an upcoming collaboration. “It’s always great to be a part of it, the old and the new.”

Centric Presents: 2009 Soul Train Awards will air at 9 p.m. Sunday (November 29) on Centric and BET.

Anika Noni Rose “The Princess and the Frog” Interview

Brooke Christopher sits down with Anika Noni Rose, the voice of Tiana in Disney’s The Princess and the Frog to talk about the significance of this movie in particular as Tiana becomes the newest addition to the Disney family of Princesses.

TIANA (voice of Anika Noni Rose) is certainly not the typical fairy-tale princess. Her daydreams are not of faraway kingdoms or castles in the clouds, but of personal success and a thriving business. She has dreams of opening the finest restaurant in all of New Orleans, says screenwriter Rob Edwards. Its a dream thats been instilled in her from her father.

Tiana is an attractive and independent African-American woman, hardworking and strong-willed, but still a loving and loyal friend and a compassionate soul. She treasures her mother and holds her father near and dear to her heart, and although she knows the way wont be easy, believes that she can achieve her ambitions if she works hard enough.

In her sensible pursuit of her lifes goals, however, Tiana doesnt really appreciate what is happening on her way to them. She can never simply slow down and enjoy herself. She has no time for romance, and is certainly not about to waste her time mooning over men—let alone kissing any frogs.

Tiger Woods Injured in Early Morning Car Crash

MIAMI (Reuters) - Tiger Woods, the world’s best golfer and a leading force in sports marketing, was injured in a car accident on Friday, a Florida newspaper reported.

It was not clear how serious his injuries were.

A local mayor said he had been released from hospital.

“Basically it was facial lacerations, and as I’m understanding it, nothing that serious,” Windermere Mayor Gary Bruhn told CNN. “He was taken to Health Central hospital, where he was treated, and then I’ve been told he was released.”

The Orlando Sentinel, citing the Florida Highway Patrol, said Woods’ car struck a fire hydrant and a tree in Florida’s Isleworth community, near Orlando.

Woods, 33, was transported to a hospital in Ocoee in serious condition, the newspaper said, citing the FHP.

Woods is one of the world’s richest athletes and the biggest draw on the PGA tour.

He has triumphed 71 times on the tour and has won 14 majors in his glittering career. He returned to action in February this year after being sidelined for eight months due to reconstructive knee surgery and finished on top of the FedEx Cup standings for the season.

The Sentinel said the accident happened at about 2:25 a.m. as Woods pulled his Cadillac Escalade out of his driveway.

The newspaper said the airbags in the vehicle did not deploy.

The FHP said the crash was under investigation and charges are pending, the newspaper reported.
